INTRAMURAL SOCCER

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Deep Run Valley Sports Association offers Intramural Soccer for children 4 to 10 years old. Our intramural program is broken down by year of birth with three different play structures:

Birth Year 2016/17

Birth Year 2018/19

Coed 2020/2021

If you have any questions about intramural soccer or would like to volunteer, please contact Kevin Fischer at IMSOCCER@DRVSA.ORG.

GENERAL INFORMATION FOR FALL 2025 SEASON

We look forward to having your child play soccer with us this season! We make every effort to try and build teams with children from the same school. Siblings in the same age division will be kept together (unless there are compelling reasons not to). We do not accept player requests except from coaches (who get their child, plus one additional player request).

GAME TIMES AND SCHEDULE:

During the Fall season, games are played on Saturdays and run on an 8-game schedule. The season starts late August and will run through the end of the school year to allow for one make-up game. The final schedule will be dependent on the number of teams in each division, as well as when it gets warm enough out for us to play. (more teams = more games = longer times before the next age group can play). The schedule will vary throughout the season to make sure no one kid misses every game because they consistently fall at the same time every week.

  • Coed 2020/2021: Boys and girls play together on a small side field playing 4v4 with no goalies or referees.
  • 2018/2019 : Boys and girls play separately (provided registration numbers allow) on a small side field where the teams are split to 6v6 with a goalie. This allows our players more action and touches of the ball as they continue to learn the game. There are no referees.
  • 2016/2017 kids typically begin playing late morning going into the afternoon. Girls and boys usually play separately. If registration is low, we may have to create coed teams. This group plays 7v7 on a larger field with go 14thalies and referees.

The schedule is finalized after all teams are built and coaching vacancies are filled. We strive to have this completed by the last week of August. Efforts are made to minimize coaching conflicts.

PRACTICES:

Practices typically occur during weeknights. We encourage the coach of each team to find a time that is (most) mutually beneficial to their team. Most intramural teams practice once a week. Coaches will decide on how often, timing and night of the week practices are held. Since they have volunteered their time, coaches get 51% of the vote but usually will ask the team for input.

COACHING AND VOLUNTEERING:

Please consider coaching and/or volunteering. Without volunteers to coach, we won’t have a season. It is fun, rewarding, and doesn’t take a whole lot more time than you already spend as a spectator. Coaches will need to get the appropriate background checks completed and take concussion training. The process is easy and has no cost to you. We will also help you learn the rules of the game. Additional volunteers for support tasks are also needed and are key to the success of the season. Other volunteer opportunities include field set up and breakdown, gear bag and jersey hand out, weekly field lining throughout the season, and snack stand.  For more information or questions contact Kevin Fischer @ IMSOCCER@DRVSA.ORG.
